The common z/OS topology is built by sysplexes, jes plexes, LPARs, etc. It can be a challenge with some configurations to move data efficiently from one LPAR to another, for example from production to preprod, especially if no DASD are shared. In this case a copy tool with a TCP/IP interface is rather helpful, as nowadays fast TCP/IP connections are standard. Definition, management and execution of copy tasks remain as easy as within configurations with universal shared DASD.
