CATALOG/VVDS FACILITIES

  • Forward Recovery of ICF catalogs and SYS1.VVDS data sets
  • Backup/Restore Catalogs/VVDS data sets
  • Access VSAM files on mirror imaged or physically duplicated DASD volumes via standard IBM access methods. Multi-volume duplicated files on one or more I/O controllers are supported
  • Synchronize Catalogs/VVDS/VTOCs, Repair Catalogs/VVDS
  • Recover records from deleted/damaged Catalog/VVDS
  • Eliminate “orphaned” catalog entries
  • Synchronize catalog aliases between master catalogs
  • Mass change volsers and/or device types within catalogs
  • Mass rename catalog entries
  • Search for and display Catalog/VVDS records containing user specified character strings
  • Replace character strings within Catalog/VVDS records

VSAM FUNCTIONS

VSAM COPY/BACKUP/RESTORE UTILITIES

  • Backup all clusters in a catalog
  • Automatically backs up all associated alternate indices and paths
  • Logically copy VSAM files
  • During backup, duplicate/out of sequence records are written to a separate file
  • Recreates VSAM KSDS file with damaged/unuseable index component
  • Backup a “SNAPSHOT” copy of a VSAM file and by default it will be restored with its pre “SNAPSHOT” name and to its pre “SNAPSHOT” volume(s)

PDS & SEQUENTIAL FILE UTILITIES

  • Provide Load module Csect analysis (i.e compile date, linkedit date, compiler options, compiler used, csect size)
  • Add directory blocks to a PDS even if opened
  • Determine poorly blocked files
  • Clear all entries in a PDS directory
  • Compress/Expand PDS/Sequential files globally
  • Copies alias enteries associated with member being copied
