SUMMARY:IDUG EMEA 2025
DESCRIPTION:UBS Hainer will be in Düsseldorf for IDUG EMEA 2025 which officially opens on Sunday\, October 26\, and concludes on Thursday\, October 30. \nJoin Kai Stroh’s presentation on Monday\, October 27 at 4:30 PM. “Build a lightweight monitor to identify SQL workload tuning potential”\, a practical session on harnessing SQL statistics from Db2’s dynamic statement cache and integrating them with your EXPLAIN tables. Learn how to pinpoint the queries that will benefit most from tuning\, so you can maximize your performance efforts where they matter most. All code used during the session will be available for download afterward. \nKey Takeaways include: \n\n\nLearn to capture SQL statistics from Db2’s dynamic statement cache \n\n\nCombine dynamic cache data with EXPLAIN table information \n\n\nIdentify which queries offer the greatest potential for tuning \n\n\nStart with simple metrics such as RID list errors and progress to advanced performance indicators (top consumers\, I/O statistics\, lock contention\, and more) \n\n\nTrack performance and resource consumption of specific SQL statements over time to spot trends \n\n\nDetect access path changes in dynamic SQL workloads \n\n\nUnderstand how routine operations (like RUNSTATS) can lead to unexpected access path changes \n\n\nUse historic EXPLAIN data to quickly identify and address access path issues \n\n\nNote:\nAll code demonstrated in the session will be available for download after the event. \n
