Powerful Test Data Management
Across All Db2 Platforms

Established enterprises have trusted IBM Db2 on z/OS and distributed platforms as the backbone of their core systems for decades. XDM streamlines the test data supply process for these Db2 environments end‑to‑end, from identification and extraction through masking and loading. It enables controlled, repeatable data provisioning between Db2 for z/OS, Db2 LUW and Db2 for i, whether you clone entire schemas or move reduced, compliant subsets.

High‑Performance Transport with Native Db2 Utilities

For one‑to‑one copies and large volumes, XDM leverages the native Db2 utilities instead of reinventing the wheel. On Db2 for z/OS, it uses UNLOAD/LOAD and supports both internal and external load formats, including the transfer of LOB and XML data. On Db2 LUW, XDM uses the Db2 IMPORT and EXPORT utilities to reuse your existing operational standards and infrastructure. This approach delivers high throughput for full clones as well as regular refreshes of a golden copy, while keeping the operational behavior close to what your Db2 teams already know.

Unified Data Stream and Cross‑Platform Consistency

Internally, XDM maps all Db2 data types to a unified representation, so data from z/OS, LUW and i/Series can be handled in the same streamlined process. This unified data stream allows straightforward comparison and combination of Db2 data with other database platforms, even when structures differ. XDM automatically manages encoding conversions between ASCII, Unicode and EBCDIC, preventing typical cross‑platform issues. As a result, the same masking and transformation rules can be applied consistently across heterogeneous environments, making multi‑system integration tests far easier to control.

Consistent Masking and Data Protection for Db2

XDM’s modification engine anonymizes or pseudonymizes sensitive data as it is read from Db2, before it ever reaches a test environment. Masking methods work deterministically, ensuring that the same input value leads to the same masked value across all Db2 platforms and other connected systems. Built‑in methods and lookup tables for common attributes such as names, addresses and bank data ensure realistic yet compliant test data, while preserving referential integrity. This enables you to combine realistic Db2‑based test scenarios with strict GDPR and internal compliance requirements.

Broad Connectivity and Enterprise Integration

XDM natively supports Db2 on z/OS, Db2 LUW and Db2 for i/Series and can move data between these platforms as part of a single, coordinated process. Connections and environments are defined once and reused across tasks and workflows, from simple table copies to complex multi‑step provisioning chains. Via the Data Shop, even non‑technical testers can request Db2 test data self‑service, while the public REST API allows Db2 data flows to be triggered from CI/CD pipelines, schedulers and test management tools. This makes Db2 test data management a first‑class, automated building block in your overall delivery landscape.
